Land Rover to lower emission level of its vehicles

Aside from the automakers, pro-environment policy makers are also keen in preserving what’s left of Mother Nature. These men behind suits implements green laws, like that of the emission standard. To answer to such enacted laws, Land Rover, along with other automobile companies, has taken measures to keep the emission level along the safe zone.

Five years from now, the Ford Motor-produced Land Rover will have slashed off as much as 20 percent in the average noxious emissions of its vehicles. Such emission cut can actually exceed the standards given by the European Union (EU). By 2012, about 130 grams per kilometer of carbon dioxide emission of vehicles is targeted to achieve by EU. Such strict emission standard has pushed Land Rover to take some action this early.

To finance such technology, the luxury SUV brand’s managing director Phil Popham told the Financial Times that Land Rover, along with its sister company Jaguar, will allot £700 million (or $ 1.43 billion) for this carbon dioxide improvement project.

“The £700m is a bit north of a 20 per cent improvement,” Popham told the Financial Times. “We can meet the intent of the legislation in terms of percentage improvement, but there’s no way we’re going to get the fleet average down to 130 g/km.”

Among the fleet of Land Rover, the 2009 Lander Rover Freelander is set to pioneer a system tagged as the “stop-start” that could help push down the noxious emissions to the safer level. This future technology is set to be another staple, along with the other standard Land Rover Parts, for this model. The Land Rover Engine Parts will also be some of the components the company will focus on to improve. Moreover, the luxury SUV brand is set to come out with a full hybrid car of its own in the future. These are just some of the initial steps the company is going to take to offset the air pollution.
