Prince Charles chanced upon his grandfather’s vintage Land Rover

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007

A more than four-decade old Land Rover, who was once owned by King George VI of Wales, was discovered by the initial owner’s grandson, Prince Charles, in a shabby garage in Aberdeenshire.

Prince Charles was going around businesses, which included the garage that kept the Land Rover. Balleter-based Robert Pringle, who is the the garage owner, bought the now old and beaten Land Rover from King George VI in 1966. Before Pringle got his hand on the royalty-owned Land Rover, the vintage sport utility vehicle was said to be utilized when the late king was still living near the Royal Deeside-based Balmoral Castle.

“The prince was very interested in it,” said Pringle. “He was delighted.”

Kept in the garage for over 40 years, the Land Rover still had a few of its Land Rover Parts intact, but would still definitely need an overhaul starting from its Land Rover Engine Parts. Prince Charles meticulously looked around the vintage off-road staple and might have suggested to have it reincarnate the Land Rover. Once the automobile gets its well-deserved new life, the Land Rover is sure to run well, but may not have the strength of the newer models of the U.S.-established 4×4.

“The Land Rover belonged to the late King and was bought by us in 1966,” said Pringle. “We are planning to do it up. It is a beautiful car and it still runs well.”
